Home > Accounting > General Ledger > Journal Entry Template

Steps to Create & Use a Journal Entry Template

1️⃣ Create a New Template

  1. Open the Journal Entry Template List and click New.
  2. Fill in the required details:
    • Template Title – A unique name for your template.
    • Company – Select the company for which this template applies.
    • Entry Type – Choose from:
      • Journal Entry (default)
      • Opening Entry (loads all accounts for opening balances)
      • Bank Entry (fetches default bank accounts)
      • Cash Entry (fetches default cash accounts)
    • Is Opening – Automatically set to 'Yes' for Opening Entries.
    • Series – Choose a naming format for journal entries.
    • Accounting Entries – Add the accounts you want included in the template.
  3. Save the template.

2️⃣ Using a Journal Entry Template

  1. Go to Journal Entry and click New.
  2. In the From Template field, select the template you created.
  3. The system will automatically:
    ✅ Load all predefined accounts and settings.
    ✅ Clear any existing entries in the Accounting Entries table.
    ✅ Allow you to add extra accounts if needed.
